Product & Garment FAQ
SHFT Moto makes streetwear for bikers and are designed for everyday wear. Our products are apparel, not protective motorcycle equipment unless otherwise stated in the product description.
What does GSM mean?
GSM means grams per square meter. It measures fabric weight.
Higher GSM generally means denser, heavier fabric with more structure. GSM is useful for understanding how substantial a garment may feel, but it is not the only measure of durability. Fabric composition, knit, seams, collar construction, hems, and care all matter.
How heavy are SHFT Moto tees and hoodies?
Fabric weight varies by style. Check each product page for that garment’s GSM and fabric composition.
The SHFT Founder and Essential Tees are listed as 100% cotton, 260 GSM / 7.7 oz. It is a heavyweight tee with a loose, oversized streetwear silhouette. It will feel thicker and more structured than a typical lightweight tee.
Hoodie weight varies by style (420-430 GSM). Check the individual product page for available fabric weight, composition, fit notes, and size information.
Heavier fabric generally adds structure and warmth. It may also feel less flexible than a lighter hoodie. The product-specific description is the best source for each style.
Are SHFT Moto garments durable?
Our garments are selected for repeat everyday wear. How a garment holds up depends on fabric weight, fiber content, seam construction, collar and hem finishing, graphic care, and washing/drying habits.
Heat, bleach, harsh detergents, aggressive drying, and direct ironing on printed artwork are the most common avoidable causes of shrinkage, fading, and premature print wear.
Tees
What construction details are used on the Founder and Essentials Tees?
The SHFT Founder and Essentials Tee samples use:
-
100% cotton fabric
-
Rib-knit crew neckline
-
Neck binding/tape at the collar seam
-
Overlocked internal seam finishing
-
Twin-needle stitching at the sleeve and bottom hems
-
Folded sleeve and body hems
The rib-knit collar is separate from the main body fabric. It is designed to help the neckline retain shape better than a simple turned-edge collar. The neck seam is covered with binding/tape for a cleaner interior finish.
What is twin-needle hem stitching?
Twin-needle stitching creates two parallel stitch lines on the outside of the garment hem. The construction used on the SHFT Founder and Essentials Tees allows the knit fabric to move while holding the folded hem in place.
The sleeve openings and bottom hem on the samples use twin-needle stitching. This helps the hem lie flat and reduces the chance of the folded edge rolling or separating during normal wear and washing.
Are the tee hems reinforced?
The sleeve and bottom hems on the Founder and Essentials Tee samples use folded fabric with twin-needle stitching. The double stitch rows secure the folded edge more effectively than a single loose stitch line.
Will the tee collar stretch out?
Any cotton rib collar can change over time, especially with repeated high-heat washing, high-heat drying, or pulling the garment over the head by the collar.
The rib-knit collar and neck binding add structure, but care still matters. To help the collar retain shape:
-
Wash inside out in cold water.
-
Use a gentle cycle.
-
Avoid bleach and fabric softener.
-
Hang dry when possible.
-
If using a dryer, use low heat.
-
Avoid pulling the garment by the collar.
Hoodies
What are the Hoodies made from?
The sampled Founder and Essentials Hoodies use a cotton/poly fleece blend:
-
56.4% cotton/43.56% polyester
-
Soft brushed fleece interior
-
Smooth outer face
-
Rib-knit cuffs and waistband
-
Overlocked internal seam finishing
-
Serged joining seams where rib-knit components meet the fleece body
The cotton provides a natural hand feel, while polyester contributes to shape retention and regular-wear durability.
The cuffs and waistband are separate stretch-knit components attached to the fleece body. The internal seams use overlock finishing to secure raw fabric edges and allow the knit fabric to move during normal wear.
Will the hoodie cuffs and waistband retain shape?
The sampled hoodies use rib-knit cuffs and waistband. Rib knit is more elastic than the main fleece body, so it is used at openings where the garment needs to stretch and recover.
Like any rib-knit component, cuffs and waistbands will hold up best when washed cold and kept away from high dryer heat. Avoid pulling hard on the cuffs, waistband, or collar when putting on or removing the hoodie.
How should I wash and dry SHFT Moto hoodies?
-
Turn the hoodie inside out.
-
Wash with similar colors in cold water.
-
Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent.
-
Do not bleach.
-
Do not use fabric softener.
-
Hang dry when possible.
-
If using a dryer, tumble dry low.
-
Do not iron directly on printed graphics.
The care label on the sampled hoodie also states: do not bleach, do not dry clean, and keep ironing heat low.
Fit, Inspection and General Care
Are all SHFT Moto pieces constructed exactly the same way?
No. Construction may vary by garment style, blank, colorway, or fulfillment partner.
The tee details above describe the sampled Founder and Essentials Tee. The hoodie details above describe the sampled Founder and Essentials Hoodie. Check each product page for garment-specific fabric, GSM, fit, and confirmed construction details.
What should I inspect when my item arrives?
Before washing or wearing your item, inspect it for:
-
Loose thread clusters
-
Skipped stitches
-
Open seams, holes, or seam separation
-
A collar that does not lie flat
-
Uneven sleeves or a significantly twisted hem
-
Incorrect size, color, or product
-
Print defects
Minor production variation can occur. If your item has a clear defect, contact SHFT Moto with your order number and clear photos before wearing or washing it.
Will my garment shrink?
Cotton and cotton-blend garments can shrink when exposed to heat. The amount depends on fabric composition, garment finishing, washing, and drying.
To reduce shrinkage:
-
Wash in cold water.
-
Use a gentle cycle.
-
Hang dry when possible.
-
If using a dryer, use low heat only.
-
Remove the garment promptly once dry.
Always follow the care label on the garment.
Why might washed garments look slightly different from photos?
Washed or garment-dyed products can have small variations in tone, texture, fade pattern, and finish. This is normal and part of the intended washed appearance. No two washed garments will look exactly identical.
Will the product color look exactly like it does online?
We aim to represent colors accurately. Screen brightness, display settings, lighting, photography, and dye variation can affect how a product looks. Minor variation between product imagery and the delivered garment is possible.
Are SHFT Moto graphics durable?
Printed graphics hold up best when cared for correctly. Repeated high heat, bleach, harsh chemicals, heavy abrasion, and direct ironing can fade or damage printed artwork over time.
For the longest print life:
-
Wash the garment inside out.
-
Use cold water.
-
Use mild detergent.
-
Avoid bleach.
-
Avoid fabric softener.
-
Hang dry when possible.
-
Tumble dry low only when necessary.
-
Never iron directly on printed graphics.
How should I wash SHFT Moto apparel?
-
Turn the garment inside out.
-
Wash with similar colors.
-
Use cold water.
-
Select a gentle cycle.
-
Use mild detergent.
-
Do not use bleach.
-
Do not use fabric softener.
-
Remove promptly after washing.
How should I dry SHFT Moto apparel?
Hang drying is the best option for preserving garment shape, color, and printed graphics.
If you use a dryer:
-
Keep the garment inside out.
-
Use the lowest heat setting.
-
Remove it as soon as it is dry.
Avoid high heat. High heat can increase shrinkage, fade colors, and add stress to printed areas.
Can I iron SHFT Moto apparel?
Yes, but do not iron directly on a printed graphic.
Turn the garment inside out and iron from the reverse side using low heat. If you need to iron near a graphic, place a pressing cloth between the iron and the garment.
Can I use bleach or fabric softener?
No. Avoid chlorine bleach, harsh stain treatments, and fabric softener. They can alter garment color, damage fibers, leave residue, and reduce the life of printed graphics.
How do I choose the right size?
Use the size guide on the specific product page. Do not rely only on the size you normally wear because fit varies by garment.
For the best comparison:
-
Take a shirt or hoodie you already own and like.
-
Lay it flat.
-
Measure the chest width and length.
-
Compare those measurements with the SHFT Moto size chart.
-
Choose based on the fit you want.
Should I size up?
Choose based on the fit you want and the product-specific measurements.
-
Choose your usual size for the intended fit shown on the product page.
-
Size up if you prefer more room or a more oversized streetwear fit.
-
Use the size chart if you are unsure.
Where can I find fabric and construction details?
Product-specific fabric composition, garment weight, fit notes, size information, and care instructions are listed on the individual product pages when available.
If you need a construction detail that is not listed, contact SHFT Moto before ordering.
